This is my first experience to work in Childhood Educational Center, so I didn’t know how to interact with children. I take care of 1 or 2 age children including baby. They are so cute. I walked around with children by using stroller. Sometimes, I wasn’t able to understand what they want to do or say. Also, they cannot have a conversation, so it was difficult for me to interact with children.

Children presented insect or stone for me. I don’t like insect, but I said, “Thank you”. Then, they often present it for me. I learned that sometimes, helping children is not good because doing themselves led to grow up them, so I just looking children or a little support to do on themself.

I read books for children, and one of them is named “hug”. I was teaching how to hug at that time. After reading this book, many children hugged me, so I was so happy. However, I think this job is hard because I have to watch them carefully. They do danger things sometimes, so I have to say “stop”, “No thank you” and so on. I talked with co-workers a lot, so I was able to spend great time today.

I learned about meaning of gesture. It helps me to understand what children want to do or need. Gestures are useful to tell something and understand what they need or want to do because they cannot speak well, so I tried to use these gestures today.
A baby who is less than 1 years old often crying, but I don’t know what he needs to, so I asked “What should I do when a baby is crying? Do you have any ideas?” for co-worker. The answer was that sometimes we are hugging. Also, they have favorite things, for example he likes playing this toy, holding him while standing up, and sandwich him between my legs. So, when I tried to these things, a baby stopped crying. It is important things to know their favorite things for working at kinder garden.

this week, I was very happy because I was able to get along with boy who is often crying while saying “Mom…”. When I met him for the first time, if I approached him, he cried. However, when I tried to speak and play together on this week, he smiled at me. I was so happy to see his smile. Recently, outside is so cold and it’s been snowing, so I played with children inside building.
November 16, 17
One of the girls often hit or bite some children, so I watched her carefully. In this week, I played the musical instruments with children. It was fun! The number of children was less than usual because of sick or something. I found that reading books for children is difficult because of my English level and expressing emotions. I should practice how to read books efficiently.
November 23, 24
Last week, the number of children was less than usual, because of sick or something, but in this week, almost everyone came to classroom, so I could see the face of every child! I enjoyed playing with children. I love children and also coworkers, so I didn’t want to go back home. I think children couldn’t understand about last day of my field work as a volunteer, but they hugged, smiled, and throwed kiss for me. Also, some of them were crying. When the work was done, coworkers gave me a thank you letter and present, so I was really happy and also sad. I gave a thank you letter too! This experience was good opportunity to speak English and learn about the style of work in Canada. I could spend a wonderful time with them. I want to see them again.
